Default ntl 250 cable mode problems

hi i recently bought a ntl 250 cable modem that is supposed to hav 10mb loaded on to it. for the first 2 days it was rapid now it strugels to open a web page. do u have any ideas i dnt no if settings in haxorware are ryt.and there are critical errors in the event veiwer that i dnt hav a clue about, how would u manage to upgrade it to 20mb do u just need to change the config file and click firmware upgrade on Haxorware Control Panel.any help would be much appreciated

make a note of the your mac (address page)
get latest hax (rev32) on there

unicast message in log means mac conflict i believe (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

what hax version is currently on there?

1.0rc6, which is fine.

@ OP, assuming you're not losing connection and it's just slow, I'd look for any network issues in your area on VM website.

hi m8 it realy is slow it wont even download of utorrent. im runing a upload/dnload meter just now DL:0.9KB/sec UL 0.0KB/sec. im lucky if if the DL goes past 6.0KB/sec. Checked VM website nothing about dundee.Can u please take me throgh the process of changing the mac step by step will be much appreciated

HFC MAC - enter MAC here you got from dchp sniffer

Ethernet MAC "DO NOT TOUCH!" LEAVE IT AS IT IS..

USB MAC - ANY BUT THE NOT HFC MAC

Serial Number - SAME AS THE HFC MAC WITHOUT THE :

go into haxorware then to addresses, change the mac there, then change the usb mac to the same but with the last digit one higher

what speed is speedtest.net showing?

then use smac to spoof pc nic mac or if connected to a router change the mac of the wan port on the router

You only need to change the HFC MAC, just leave the USB and ethernet MAC's alone, they do not need to be changed, it makes no difference. Changing the ethernet MAC has been known to create extra issues for some people.

There's no point changing anything else, especially if you are getting a connection, you could be opening up a can of worms.

Also, you say your speeds are slow. How are you connecting? Are you using a router? Are you using wireless? If you are using a router, try resetting it by powering on and off. Mine goes slow sometimes and just needs a reset due to running out of memory etc. If you are using wireless, is it secured with WEP or WPA? Someone could well be stealing it! Make sure you are using WPA to secure your wireless, as WEP is easily hacked.

One more thing, how many computers are connected in your home? Another PC could be hogging all the bandwidth. I ask this as you say that you are indeed getting a connection, albeit a slow one.
