I recently bought the card froma an online retailer and im having these 2 problems:
1) The picture breaks every few seconds as if the singal is below 40% or something even though dvbdream for example show a steady 60% and the dreambox i have has a perfect signal all the time. 2) The device emits a high pitch sound when i tune in dvb-s2 channels, it gets very annoying but its not really watchable with the often picture breaks. My current pc setup is a gigabyte motherboard P35 "EP35C-DS3R Rev2.1" dual core duo E8500 3.16Ghz Nvidia 9800GT Now i think there is a problem with the motherboard or the drivers. The motherboard has 3 white pci slots from which 2 according to the bios share irq with usb and raid controllers. The 1 that doesnt share irq and which im currently using for the card is just below the graphics card. I've installed the latest technisat drivers from their site 1.1.1.302 I tried installing the Twinhan mantis driver 1.1.1.400 since the skystar hd2 is basically a cloned AD-SP400(1041) but the device wont start. Someone may think that the device is faulty but i installed the card on an old pentium 4 system i have and it was working ok with the main drawback the cpu is too slow for H.264 decoding. lol Well any thoughts ? Any success stories with new gen motherboards ? Thanks in advance for any advices. |

Mine works fine on an ASROCK 1333-glan
Have you tried a Bios update? Have you tried the technisat software see if it works with that??

Every driver is up to date.
Anyway i did a rather unorthodox fix. Which is not practical at all but it's a fix for now untill im sure whats wrong. Im gonna do a test on a friends motherboards one of these days. I installed the skystar hd2 on my P4 system and im using dvbdream to stream to my main pc all the dvb-s2 channels with VLC. I enable the vlc from TOOLS-VLC in and dvbdream goes in renderless mode which is good cause the system is too slow for HD so its just streams to my pain pc which can handle it using VLC. So each time i wanna watch something dvb-s2 i can change the channels from the P4 system and then open vlc to watch on my new computer. When I change channel i have to reopen vlc. As for the mpeg2 channels im gonna install my old skystar2 card on my new computer. Its a temporary fix until i change motherboard ... but still cool ;p |
