Question sl1000 - Jumpy Channel - Fix in Sticky Not Working

Hi

Im in South Manchester using code 6.952. Every channel on my sl1000 is jumpy or temporarily loses signal.

I've tried the method in the sticky (change signal slightly by 0.5 up or down) but this makes no differnce, no matter which frequency I try the method out on.

I've checked the connections and all seems fine. Its plugged straight into a VM point in the wall (no splitter being used) which has a live connection to VM broadband. I'm not using a booster (never needed to in last 6 months or so) and in any event all of the signals showing at about 80-83%. I've just done a powerscan but its made no difference.

The problem started yesterday evening on BBC2 (at least that was what I was watching) but has now spread throughout the channel list.

Am I missing something or can somebody offer more advice?

Many thanks

P

PO

I had similar problems , but i no you have tried up .5 or down what i was told and has worked is what ever freq you on ie 538 ad 750 = 538.750

if this doesnt work try a powerscan again, and make sure you have the right firmware on it should be 24/2/09

I've been having this same problem as well since sunday, tried everything as mentioned above and no luck.

Any one have any ideas what the problem might be?

It's worth trying a full factory reset first, then do the scan again and see if that helps.

The signal strength reading on the ex1000 I find to be meaningless really.. If you've still got your modem up and running then your Eurovox must be plugged in via a splitter, its probably inside the box on the wall.. Try connecting your Eurovox directly to the feed (remove the splitter from the equation)

If its better, then it means the splitter is duff, or you're simply getting a weaker signal into your home, which can happen when they fiddle with things in the street cabinets.. Solution would be to either try a different splitter, or most likely to cure it would be to add a Signal Booster..

If when connected directly to the feed it gets even worse, then it possibly means the signal strength into your home is too strong, for which you would need to add an atteunator to the feed, to lessen the signal strength to the Eurovox..

:-)

Damn - the problems back again...

This time I've tried my box in a neighours house and it works fine, so its definitely not knackered. That leads me to think its a signal/connection problem, but signal strength looks fine and I've checked my connections both on the NTHell box in my living room and the one on the wall outside. So far as I can tell having opened them up, there is nothing wrong with either. The signal has been fine since I got the box in November and cant think of why that would change.

I've also opened up the box and gave everywhere a quick dust clean but still no better. Still jumpy and sound cuts in and out in a high pitch squark.

Does anyone have any further suggestions? Desperate not to lose the great little box...

Cheers

P
