I have gone in and set a new transponder, but not sure where to put the FEC of 3/4 ?
With the other bits of information like frequency, polarity and symbol rate all entered in the appropriate fields and I then do a search I do not find any channels. a. Do I have to enter the fec code ? b. where do I do it ? the second screen of the channels info asks for things like audio pid, vid pid, and 2 other seperate things. They all have zero in them by default. Adding a number in any of those fileds does not seem to get saved because when I re-check after having saved the information nothing is there on this secondary screen. The manual is nowhere to be found ! |

It is automatic on the Technomates, you can't enter it.

Well that means I am obviously not doing something right. The transponder and as much detail has been keyed in, but nothing. It may be a dish alignment problem or lnb ? I have seen once an lnb fail to search through all frequencies especially if they owner is viewing the same channels on the same transponder for years !

Can you scan other transponders on the same satellite ? Which TP are you having trouble scanning ?

Well, although other channels are tuned in I couldn't search on any transponders even on the ones that had channles working. Now that was really strange. So I had a thought to remove power completely from the unit and that seem to do the trick. Some of the other transponders were showing strength on signal and quality. The problem was the one I was trying to add is not showing up no signal. I have heard from a satelite installer that the Cypriot channel - RIK had gone onto this much weaker transponder and caused problems for lots of people.
Not sure if this is a problem or whether going forward there will be a reuqirement for a bigger dish. The 'so-called' professional advice was to wait a month or 2 (er, What ???) to see if things improve. As usual no info from the satelite broadcasters themselves. The channel is also being broadcast on hotbird although I suspect the channel is much stronger on there I'm a bit suspect on how long it will be transmitting from there. |

oops, sorry for the lack of info.
I re-powered the satelite receiver. The channel concerned is RIK Sat on Transponder 5 of Hellas Sat. It's frequency is 11146-V-3333-3/4. We are in Surrey , S.E UK. the dish is 60cm - not sure about lnb. Why they moved to this transponder earlier in the week is anyone's guess, probably anything to save a few quid ? The channel is also transmitting on Hotbird 8 - 11470-V-27500-5/6. I think the hotbird channel must be transmitting a far stronger signal as no one else has reported problems from this satelite. |

If this is the only channel that you can't recieve I would say it is a broadcast issue. Is there any reason that you can't view the hotbird channel for the time being ? Or could your problem be linked to this post ? Symbol rate: difference between Msyb/s and Ksps

It's not a transmission problem, I'm getting it fine on my dish, I have'nt tried it on a tiddly 60cm though, but the footprint suggests you should be OK, and my signal is strong.
