DVD Reading - Doing My Head In.
Well some of you know me and some dont, well Im not stupid when it comes to PC's but this is doing my f*&^*&$ head in.
My PC had a Pioneer 107D installed and was working 100%. One day it decides top stop reading dvd disc's, reads everything else but not dvd disc's. So anyway, I purchased another new writer Pioneer 111 and low and behold this is doing the very same thing, will not for the life of it read a poxy dvd disc. I've changed the cables, changed the ID's, changed the cable setup and cleared the bios, wiped windows and started again and both writers still will not read a disc. My PC tries to read the data, spins and thats it and just stops. The dvd discs have been tested in another 2 pc's and read 1st time but not in my poxy machine. :bomb: Any ideas? Laters ![]() |

If they don't collect the old drive (they usually don't) try flashing the firmware and see if that fixes it.

I've had a couple of DVD players out of them, it's not worth them collecting a cheap(ish) item - Let us know what happens

i may be wasting my breath here, stating the obvious but have you got the drive set as master on it's own ide port and using an 80 core cable, i tried a 109 as slave using cable select and no way would it read or write properly changed to master on ide 01 and all worked fine, also a working aspi layer can solve many a problem, and adaptecs latest seems the best yet imho.
