Default Cables

Hi all, have been doing my reading but still cannot work this one out:

Can I flash with IFA using ONLY an RJ45 cable?

Or do I require the null modem to do this.

Just getting a bit worried in case I get a bad flash.

Also, does IFA need to know the static IP of the box?

It will do just fine but with the null cable the process is MUCH quicker, then again that may be because I use crossover cables rather than RJ45 cables

I find the quickest method is to transfer the image is via flash fxp to the .tmp folder and then upgrade via the box itself ( flash one partion , flash without bootloader )

Sorry, I thought you meant RJ45 as in the ethernet cable rather than crossover

Cheers, this what I usually do but I am worrying that one day whilst the box re-flashes itself it freezes up and the box no longer works and I can no longer access via ftp. Has anyone ever had this happen and is IFA the only way to re-flash in such a circumstance?

If it does indeed freeze up and you cant flash by flashFXP then IFA is indeed the way to go

Yes IFA is the only way
Cross over cable direct
Straight cable through a router
Wireless even
But no other way...................Paul
