What about the other ntl box with the Virgin card inside. Shall I tell him to set this one up? Or is it the same problem? Damn man...why didnt the guy just bring d-boxes round. Because another thing im concerned about is if im not happy with having him do my cable he may probably grass me up to Virgin Media about having dodgy cable if I get it set up by someone else.

As everyone has said dont let him muck about with your sub box, if you have the other box off him make sure he has done it properly and cut talkback, dont listen to anything he has to say about it being ok etc, the guys on here are the experts and know what they are talking about, you are the one who will get into trouble.
I would just tell him you have changed your mind and cancel if i were you, you can buy a brand new eurovox or kryptview for £90 already set up.

OK. The man came and I told him to set the box up....it was one of the ntl DITV 2000 boxes. Basically I told him if he could cut talkback and he said the boxes were unregistered and they wouldnt know where the box was anyway. I requested but he said he would have to take the box away to do it. So I am getting all channels but the talkback is not cut and I heard the talkback on these boxes is difficult to cut especially for newbies which i am. What you guys reckon?

Mate , Cutting talkback is a MUST to keep you and your box out of trouble . Boxes weather new or ex sub will try and communicate with the mother ship. If the bloke is unwilling to do this for you get yourself a 50db Noise filter from Flea-bay . There easy to use , they just screw into the cable feed ( Newbie Proof ).

Most of the boxes that being used are unregistered coz peeps buy them from fleybay or carboot but because they are desined to talk back once they are connected they will do, the talk back needs to be cut coz the CC gets all sorts of feedback from the boxes including your address m8.

Cutting TB is pl55 easy, and the guy is a f00kin tw@t!!

As I said before, and also said by RD, you should have just got a couple of Krypviews, Eurovoxs or Starviews and told this guy to go forth & multiply.

I would turn it off now , Should you continue , don't use any interactive features like red button , ppv movies and events , catch-up etc.... as these will alert the CC
