Angry Problem with Motorised Sat Install

Hi folks!

So here it is I have my pole up and perfectly level. I have my dish pointed to magnetic south and inline with my motor. I set my lat perfectly 54.2 and then went in to the Technomate and set it to thor 1w using usals the motor moved. I connected up my sat finder and set it to 5 witha tone moved it to it was 10 then i moved it back to 5 and move the dish till 10 again. So went down stairs and Level is at 81% stationary and the quality is moving betwwen 20-30% if i take out the ariel lead the level goes down to 7% but the quality stays the smae flicking between 20-30%

I have a technomate tm 6900 combo plus and a triax 1m dish with a yellow LNB 1db.

Can anyone help me!!! I am pulling my hair out!!! I will be for ever in your dept!

I have pics if you need them!

1Love!

Ignore the signal level and concentrate on the quality. If your receiver has BBC World News, 11325 H 24500, then tune it to that.
Now gently move your dish until you get a signal, including changing the angle, once you have a picture adjust your dish until you get the strongest signal quality, once done tighten your dish and check the arc for other satellites using your motor.

11325 H 24500 are the details for BBC World News a Free to Air channel on 1 West.
Check if it's listed in your satellite list for Thor 0.8 West.
I can't tell you what angle your motor/dish should be set at, or if you should be setting your dish on 1 West, as you haven't provided your general location, but set it up initially on 1 West and you shouldn't be far out.
You can use your satellite meter to get a good signal, then see which channels you're receiving, and by comparing them on lyngsat.com, or kingofsat.net, you will discover which satellite you're pointing at.

Yes, but you should only need a few channels to identify which satellite you are pointed to, once you have this you can move the dish East or West to locate Thor.

So if i think i hit a sat and my meter says i have what if my quality is still 30% variable?

This happened this morning. I had a solid 10 on the sat finder and it was 1W as far as i was aware so i dont know what im doing wrong.

I have ovbously found a sat with the meter but when i scan it picks up nothing.

GET ME A BIG HAMMER!!!!

I have decided i am going to set up a small 14" tv up beside the dish. That way I can see everything I need. Better off. If the rain is off I will do this after 3 today!

Stay tuned!

1Love

That's the method I use, I run a feed to an old B&W portaable TV and move the dish until I get a picture, I also gave up on my cheap signal meter
