v+ error 40

hi all

ive just installed a blank 512 chip in to my v+ and im getting error 40 come up when it boots can anyone help me out please.

I had this problem before most likely the solder joins. Just re-heat them just in case u have dry joins. Also make sure no legs r joining also all joins are fully connecting. Dont apply too much heat as u could lift pads. Are your pads ok?

theres no joining legs. how do i check the pads??

make sure the chip is on the right way round mate

Dot or mark should be inline with the small resistor. Did u go over the joins with the soldering iron so there no dry joins? U will get there dnt worry bout it.

I had the same problem and mine was a lifted pad

error 40 = chip not right.

desolve the access flux off with meths ect, make sure no dry joints like prev posts.

thanks for the help guys the chip is sorted but the box wont reboot when i insert the netid card does it have to be a atmega 163 card as im usin a fun 4

apparently the funcards do work although i have had zero success with them myself.

have you flicked thru the pages in eng menu putting in the card and leaving in for 10-20 secs every time?
