Default USB stick & technomate 5400ci super

Hi all!!

I recently bought a 16GB USB memory stick in order to record programmes on my technomate. I have formated it in FAT. However when i try to record using it the picture on screen breaks up & after a few seconds the technomate shuts down. I have another 1GB USB stick and it records onto it ok- but obviously it has less capacity. Does anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong?? I haver been able to copy files onto the stick from my computer ok so i think it's working ok. The make on the stick is cruzer with sandisk written on the back.

Trev

Try formatting it in the Technomate, there is a format option in the USB menu

Hi, Fat16 is limited to a maximum volume size. Have a search for this value. It should be 2GB for all OS and 4GB for some. NTFS.com NTFS vs FAT32 FAT16 FAT.Comparing.Performance.

Lincsat's advice will solve your problem, but you may not be able to use the full capacity of your drive. You will have to make more than one partition.

I thought the TM's formatted in FAT32 - I've used a 4GB stick in one and it formatted the full 4GB (well just under)
