Stupid question ( I'm lucky enough to know the pin on my v+ boxes ) . Could he not record the earlier movies without pin and watch them at his convenience? or is this not an option?

Only way is lifting the chip and either blanking it or fitting a new one then you can use a funcard to set net id and pin!

If you was able to blank it then it would mean you have a chip programmer in which case you can dump a new net id to it
