Here it is,see for your self.
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/informa...ndex.jsp#link1

They use a van with all the stuff in to receive a signal from the TV equipment installed, and they can tell which room its in and what frequencies are being watched, and how many TVs etc etc, follow the link above and it will explain some of what they can find out,but they will not give all there secrets away.

Hi mate.....Yes i know you need one and all that .... but the argument is that he says what can they use to find a signal from a wire in the ground to make sure you have a lisence??

My argument is they MUST have some kinda equipment for this otherwise thousands of people wouldnt have one!!

The definitive answer to this question would be to gather documentary evidences from court cases that involved defendants failure to pay their TV license fees.

Detector vans are on patrol - Bridlington Free Press

Here we go. again.Prosecutions from television detection equipment - WhatDoTheyKnow

You never know whats around the corner these days, pay your TV License.

Most "detection" would come from the fact that VM & Sky are obliged to pass on the names/addresses of all TV customers to the licencing authority.

If you subscribe to a digital TV service, then they already know about you !

Detector vans do exist and they do work (cant quite remember the details but its either TV local oscillator or TV line/frame flyback they detect) but their really more of a visible scare tactic simply because there are so few of them.

thats absolutely true mate, thats how they get most of their info,..if you buy a telly, chances are its going to be you at your address thats using it, and if you pay for sky or virgin telly services, then they are informed about this by sky or vm, so they know for DEFINATE that you have a telly and are using it....why else would you pay for sky or vm telly if you didnt have a telly. the other thing is though, as they cannot enter your home, and if you dont answer the door(ive a mate who doesnt answer the door to anyone) you would be able to get away with it full stop. me mates never EVER had a licence, and he,s lived in his own house for 21years.
