Default Starview 4 ... USB Hard Drive.

Hi all, today i recieved my starview 4 box from dvbjunkies, top quality service with them, must admit that.

What i want to know is what external drive must i purchase? just a standard USB External Hard Drive, Or USB External Portable Drive, Must it have its own power supply?. what size can i get? will only certain brand drives work with starview or do they all work?

thanks in advance

yeah i would greatly appreciate some info on this. had read best not to go over 300gb IIRC but also that people had 500gb ones working no problem.
think they were standard usb external hard drives with own power supply.
cheers

the starview 4 usb only reads fat16 or fat32 format hard drives. most new hard drives over 32 Gb are ntfs format. so when you buy say a 500 Gb hard drive, convert it to fat32 format, i use swissnife software which is free online. but unless they have an updated vertion, it will only work on windows xp not vista. hope this helps and there no reason the starview couldnt read upto 1Tb

maxtor 500 gb with own power supply did not work, i then tried 160 gb and 320 gb hard drives that were bus powered and both worked fine.

I can confirm that this does not work I've had my box for just over a year and bought a 500gig freecom with external psu and it wouldn't read it and froze whilst getting the box to format it.

sorry folks but from what I've seen 320gig is the biggest that works!
