Default JPG file in Windows 2000 reappears

Hi there

Firstly apologies if this query has been answered in another thread, i cant find anything relating to it but i havent searched every page! I downloaded a picture (jpg format) from an email i received onto my work computer which is part of a network, when i delete it or even move it, the file appears back where it was when i reboot. I have tried the following all to no avail:

Downloaded a Malware removal file from microsoft, found nothing.
Downloaded process explorer, whcih never found the file (i just used 'Find dll' to look for it)
Downloaded Swatit and searched for trojans, which found nothing.
For each piece of software i scanned the whole C:drive and the networked folders to make sure i had searched everywhere.

Please help as i need to remove this file lol!

Firstly hi!

That sounds particularly suspicious of a file to me. I ask of you, two things.

1. Please download HiJack This 2, (Its available from trendmicro here: TrendSecure | TrendMicro™ HijackThis™ Overview) and install it, then run the program and from the first screen hit the 'Do a system scan and save a logfile' please upload it here for me to take a look for you as I can analyse the results from such scans with ease due to my job.

2. Download and install Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2 from here: The home of Spybot-S&D! and install it, after looking at your logs we will setup a scan with Spybot S&D.

Let me know how you get on, any questions fire away

Edit: @Moderators - I hope it's alright to post the links above.

two of the best programs out there to try are malwarebytes and super antispyware, you can get both programs free

Sorry for the late reply.

Since you couldn't attach the log by email, copy and paste the log here, then I or another member can perhaps see the problem.
