first modem modd - which pins to connect?

i after a long period of research i am finaly doin my first modem mod. however when i opened up my ambit 250 to connect the max232 cable i found that theres 5 pins on the modem, and the cable only has four.

i was wondering have i got the wrong cable, or is it you just connect four out of the five pins. if so does it matter which pins?

secondley could anyone recommend the best firmware e.g - haxoware or infinate.

also any final advice before i begin my first mod.

the pins arnt labbled.

if you were to look at it from the side of the three capacitors, is it the four pins from left, or the four pins from the right.

grd is usually black on the max, its the one at the end, cant remember which end off the top of my head. try it eitherway

with the leds looking at you, working from the back to the front they are..
