Question Bricked webstars

I recently acquired some bricked webstars , I have soldered the eight pin headers to the board and purchased a jtag cable. My question is what firmware should i flash?

Thanks in advance

Yep, Haxorware.

Get a 2meg dump from the Haxorware.com website. They have 2meg dumps for all the different modem types.

ok you guys are scaring me now, i thought i'd try this modem lark after getting a few pointers from some kind members, i have a scientific atlantic modem and have just ordered a jtag cable from fleabay, thought it was just a case of getting 2meg dump from Haxorware and away i go, but if you guys who are a lot more knowlagable are bricking them them whats my chances on my first 1, slim to none i'd saylol, so just what are the pitfalls?

If you have JTAG, you use that to unbrick them. It's easy as pie. Couple of simple commands in JTAG Utility, and you are done!

You can't go wrong, and you definitely can't brick it beyond repair if you have JTAG!!

the webstar with no jtag points was an early version. manufactured the back end of 04.

when you jtag the webstar, remember those two pins which need connecting. off hand i think its 1 and 7. it is covered in another thread.

i think its pin 2 and pin 7 gnd's, need connecting together or it wont work at all
you can just put a link on the back from one pin to other pin
this is important thing, or it wont work, unless the jtag you bought already has the gnd's linked
