Default technomate 5400 + Plus Large communal dish

Hi, I'm new to this so I hope you can help.

I've got hold of a Technomate 5400 CI +USB and have it connected to a communal dish at the top of a large tower block of flats. I've done a "blind search" and have access to some new channels. Satellite setup seems to suggest I have good reception to a number of different satellites. I'm wondering whether
I can download anything with the usb slot or buy something which will give me access to more channels?

I'm in London if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is your communal dish pointing at Astra 2, 28.2E?
If it is then you can not open any more channels, if you can get other satellites, like Thor, 1W, then you can open the Digi TV package.

Hi,

No, it is highly unlikely that you have access to lots of different satellites. You would have had to do some Diseqc switching, and that would only been of any use if feeds from other satellites are provided, which would be unusual.

What happens when you scan other satellites is that you are just picking up channels from the same satellite all the time, because some frequencies match.

There are no hacked services on 28E, so don't waste your time with it.

Though, as Mickha says, if you could check if you can really pick up from others sats....

Pick one of the channels you think are from another satellite and post its frequency and name, and we can tell you if it is or not.

Thanks both of u for responding - I believe it is pointing at Astra 2, 28.2E. The reason the communal dish was put up was because so many people had large ones - so it would be strange if for example turkish families could now only get astra. How would I be able to tell if a channel is from a particular satelite? If I select a particular sat for example 45.0 INTELSAT there are loads of channels I can access some of which seem to be scrambled. Either way, if I am just picking up channels from the same satellite all the time, because some frequencies match, is there any card I could buy which would unscramble the channels which seem to have a good reception. Thanks

Everyone was forced to take down their dish and use the communal dish. Hope that makes sense

Check lyngsat.com or kingofsat.net for a list of FTA, (Free to Air), channels on other satellites, but it is highly unlikely that your dish will pick up anything else except Astra 2, 28.2E.

Is there anyway you can view the dish? Check if it has more than 1 LNB, this should tell you if you can pick up any other satellites.
If it's a big dish you could try adding another LNB to pick up another satellite.
Ask some of the neighbours what channels they're viewing.
