Question sky multiroom with own box

Hi everyone, i'm looking for advice. I have a sky + HD box, but am considering buying a sky + box from ebay for use in a 2nd room and buying a multiroom subscription so my little one can watch her programmes. What i'd like to know is how easy/difficult is it to install myself instead of paying Sky's ridiculous install fees??

Is the above actually possible or will sky only give me multiroom if i buy 2nd box from them?

Thanks

Hi,

The physical installation is pretty easy. You probably have a quad LNB already, so you need to run a new cable from the LNB to the new receiver. You can use wf100 or similar.

You will also need to run a telephone connection to each receiver as well.

Now, the hard bit. Get on to Sky and get the multiroom sub sorted, they may need info from the new receiver.

Excuse my ignorance but i'm a total beginner (and a woman but please don't hold that against me!)

The LNB is the sat dish - is that correct?
wf100 cable from dish to box -would that need F connectors on both ends?

The LNB is the little plastic box in front of and pointing at the centre of the dish. If it is a quad LNB and it is most likely if you have had HD installed then it will have four connections on the bottom, each of which allows cable connection via a 'F' connector.

For a SKy+ box you will need two cable from the LNB to the receiver if you want to allow recording of one programme whilst watching another. Yes 'F' connectors are fitted to each end of the cable.
