Default 20Mb Mac giving me 5mb

okay ive been trying loads of old macs

cmreg-ntlhm200-rts22.cm - old config use to be 20mb now gives me 5mb
cmreg-ntlhm100-bas.cm - same again but gives me 2mb instead of 10mb

any1 else getting this

im in boro pure ntl..


if i Autoserve i get this in the event log Neg Or Bad Reg Rsp - Reinitialize MAC...

have you been downloading alot? you could be traffic shaped, you appear to be getting around the right upload for 20MB

Nah aint downloaded nothing, umm very confusing :S

Edit: okay change Nic mac and router mac

now i get



still better than 5mb but no 20mb think ill leave it for a bit

Dont listn to speed tests they give inaccurate speeds.
Download from newsgroups to get your true speed test or FTP server

Okay downloaded from MS.com service pack 3 and i was getting 1.5mps sec..

im in same boat as u mate. running 20meg mac and all i get sumtimes is 8mb when running speedtest. but when im downloading nzb;s or torrents the speed shoots up to 1.9mb/2mb. also a gud site for speedtesting that doesnt lie is My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Test

Try a torrent and see what the speed is.

Speedtest can be unreliable, and it also depends on local network conditions and the time of day.

Test at different times and see what happens.

Okay, now i don't get this lol i connect my modem to the router and the page's takes ages to load..

if i connect my modem normaly to the computer without the router it works fine 20mb yea yea.. lol

so my question is why does my router do this.. ive reset the thing had alook at updateing it but can't no thing there to update it and also tryed diff settings it works for about 5mins then it goes slow i dont get it..

crap or dying router? it seems that is where your problems lie
