Well he doesnt have to use a Sly box to cs. I suppose he could pick a cheap Dbox sat(I think it has capabilty of c/s?) or a DM 500S. The new receiver would pay for itself after a while(once you've shared with 6 or 7 people)

For a beginner, I would have a look at the cable side of the forums

Ahem, we don't reccomend anyone to get into the cable guff on the sat forums.

The whole point in my post was that it is not possible to use a Sly box to CS. I think that enough time has been spent on this thread and the OP has had his answer, Robo said it all with his reply post. Time to put this thread to bed, there I did my poet bit.

fine for a beginner, put up a motorised system-cheaper than c/s as you dont have to pay £552 a year to Sly
