I have been using a 20mb mac for a couple of months now no problems and nothing in the haxorware event log then the past couple of days I got DHCP - renew failed re initialise mac Ok maybe I have been detected as a clone I didn't pay to much attention to this until I looked at the overview page and realised that I had unreg.cm but speed tests where still giving me the same as a 20mb mac would so I dont get it! it has got me quite paranoid now though and I have just changed to another 20mb mac to see what happens anyone else seen anything like this? are VM setting traps??? or does anyone have a rationale explanation or have VM just made a massive cockup?

Unreg.cm means the MAC is finished.
Just cause you been using it it doesn't mean the real owners have not stopped paying for it or cancelled their sub. If this happens, you get cut off when the real owner does. |

Yeah I get that bit m8 but if you look at it to me unreg.cm always to me use to mean straight to activation page but it seems that unreg.cm is now allowed network access with a 10mb download this seems like a trap to me but I could be completly wrong. you can test this by making up a mac address getting served the unreg.cm but you will still get network access seems to dodgy to me

Well of course unreg.cm will have a download speed as it takes you to the activation page.
There are still settings for the connection a the modem still needs to be able to get online so you can surf the virgin website innit??? |

whenever I had unreg.cm before in the past the best I would get is the activation page and any attempt to access any other site would not work but now it seems I could surf the web freely and had speed tests of 10mb

Are you going through a router?
People have had this before where they have been able to surf with a unreg.cm. But as I said, it will have a config file with speed limits as you are able to access the VM websites. What they do is assign you to a different DNS server so that you cannot access the outside world. I think the technical term is a walled garden. |

Hi
Im reading it as if he is saying that he can actually surf the web (the outside world) and not just the vm sites which is surprising with the "unreg.cm" Maybe Im understanding it wrong. Regards |
