all at TW, I have just found out that it is possible to get a hacked modem (I know, that is how slow I am) I am here to ask how do I go about getting one. I live in Dublin, Ireland and I have 3mb broadband from N*L at the minute, I have a kryptview box which I can get all the premium channells from, do these modems kinda work in the same way, ie download software for it to work? I know that this is real noobie stuff but where to you get this modem from and roughly how much do they cost and can they work on N*L in Dublin? Any advice will be most welcome even a link to an online supplier ![]() Thanks in advance for any replies

That modem has the Haxorware software already on it, and will work fine in the Republic. You'll need to enter a MAC address and the correct frequency for your area, plug in the coax and you're sorted. Don't ask for a MAC address on here, it's not allowed, but there are other forums where it is. The frequency should be easy enough to find by searching the forum.

Frequency is easy to get. Just search the forum.
MAC's are also similarly easy to get. You jst need to sniff for them. To learn how to do that just have a wee search of the forums. |

The MAC address is a 12 digit hexadecimal number assigned to a modem by the cable company. You'll be putting someone elses MAC in your modem to get it online. It's nothing to do with a mac or pc, it's just got the same name. The frequency for ex ntl areas is 402750000. There are forums where MAC trading is allowed, or you can 'sniff' them with the appropriate software. Putting these 2 things in your modem is easy. You won't need to flash that modem, the software is already on it. If you do want to flash it there is lots of info on flashing modems on this forum.
Didn't mean to repeat what you said Sean, you must've posted while i was typing. Last edited by djbones; 14-07-09 at 02:57 PM. Reason: Sean got in there before me! |

The cable co use it to identify the modems on their network to ascertain whether you are allowed network access or not. |
