Default Feed Issue

Gents,

Have been using this forum for a few years now but only just joined. Thanks to all for the useful information you have provided since I found it. I have a few boxes myself and have also sorted a few friends and family with the same. Have experienced and overcome pretty much every issue that has been mentioned on this forum but I have come across a problem that is out of my hands.

I recently took a Starview 2 box round for a friend to use and attempted to install it for him. On first install it only picked up around 130 channels. I live about 2 miles from him and I get 350 odd. I then updated the firmware and tried again. Same problem. I then removed the splitter and tried direct into the feed to no avail. Each time I did a factory reset to start from afresh.

After scratching my head and looking through numerous threads I decided to run a cable into the next door neighbours feed via their splitter for a quick test. Funny enough it picked up all 350 odd channels. I then unplugged the feed as I hadn't asked to use it.

So my problem is this. We have a feed that appears to be too weak as we cannot pick up all of the channels. I have tried a signal booster but if anything that made it worse so does anyone have any sensible ideas? Other than hacking into next doors feed :P

makes sense, do you have an example of such a thing and have you or has anyone had a similar problem and resolved it with a reducer?
