Thumbs up How to watch PCNE Chinese Channel?

Hello All,

Im a complete beginner to satalite TV and wondered if anyone can tell me the cheapest way to watch the PCNE Chinese Channel?

Im trying to set this up for my parents and they dont watch any other channel except PCNE. I wondered if there was any way to watch this without subscribing to the minimum 12 month Sky TV as all the other paid channels would be wasted?

I have heard of "pay once watch forever" for £75 on sky, but i do not think that sky are offering this package anymore ( i went to Currys, Asda and Argos but none of them sold this)?

I have also heard of "freesatsky", but im not sure what this is and if im able to watch PCNE on it?

Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Thanks

Hi just had a quick look and the channel your after is free to air so you need no cam or cards to pick it up.

You could either have a go at setting a dish up yourself either at ground level or on the wall, it just need to be a small sky dish you can buy these at reasonable prices plus any cheap satellite receiver can obtain these channels. The are a couple of guys on the forum selling kit at reasonable prices. You could also ring one of your local sat. shop out the yellow pages and tell them you just want a cheap free to air systems setting up on sky satellite. If you already have a sky dish installed then you just need a cheap receiver. No big issues in circumstances.

Hi, thanks for that information.

I really dont think i would be able to set up the satalite dish myself, so i phoned my local satalite shop and they quoted me around £150 to install and set up, including satalite dish and receiver. Does this sound like a good deal?

The local satalite shop installers came around today for a proper quote and the price has gone up from 150 to 220 pounds as they said there was more to the installation than first thought.

On top of that, do i need to purchase a viewing card from sky?

No you don't need a viewing card to view any FTA (Free to Air) channels, only for Sky channels or FTV (Free to View) channels.
That's a big increase in price, I'd get a few more quotes before deciding.

Look in the yellow pages.A normal sky dish should cost £50-£70 to install. I got quoted £150 for my motorised dish so your probably be better off finding cheaper quotes

That won't include the equipment though Waq, that will be just for installation.

The sky boxes are the easiest to use. I would grab the £75 offer on Ebuyer while its still there looks like the best option for your parents to me
