I purchased a comag hd kit from maplins complete with 60cm dish after paying a sat guy to set it up ,the signal intensity was 42% and signal quality 5%. The guy said the lnb was crap (a new one made no difference) and the dish was no good....but would sell me a sky dish to sort the problem for £110!! Is he having me on or is there any other solutions? Any replies would be great as I'm new to this!

Sounds like he's taking the P+ss. The sly signal is that strong in the uk that you carnt miss it. I use to use the little camping dish that maplins sold and its only 39cm and brings in some superb signal quality on that sat and many others.

£110 for a Sky Dish !! Bit of a rip that, the first one listed on ebay was £22.95 for dish and LNB.

I have fitted that kit for a customer myself a few weeks back. While it isn't the best gear, it will do the job for freesat. It could be that the dish is warped and the lnb faulty, but I doubt that both will be the case at the same time.

If there isn't a line of sight problem it should just be a case of alligning the dish correctly as long as all the equipment is working properly.

what satellite should i be aiming for to get a decent freesat?

Depends what programs your after. Freesat is broadcast on 28e. German on 19e, Italian on 13e. Scandinavian on 1w. etc etc

The installer was either having you on, or was incompetent. The Fortec Star LNBs that they sell, don't have the cable pointing down at zero skew, so that has to be watched out for.

A 60cm dish would have to be in pretty terrible condition not to pick up Freesat.
