I am under the impression that a Net ID is a set thing, no ifs buts or maybes, if your area is Net ID 12345, then your box has to be set to 12345.
So why is it that 1 box I got from this area works on one Net ID, my subbed box has another, and another box I have from this area has yet another? How is this possible? How can a subbed box have one Net ID, a subbed box from the same area another Net ID, and the Net ID that works for another box is different still? Answers on a postcard please. Actually, better to just reply with answers, the postcard is an outmoded form of communication. |

Yeah, it sounds crazy I know, but it's true!
My subbed SA box has one NetID, my modded Pace has the one it should have from the list, and this new one (Sam 2110) I have acquired was from a house clearance. I remember setting my modded box to the same NetID as my Subbed one, and it only giving me freeview (told me I wasn't authorised to view any other channels), so I gave it the list Net ID and it worked. This new one is the same, I check in the ENG menu and it has a different NetID. I'm just making a funcard now to see if I can get it to go. |

I'm in TW. Here are the Net ID's I've used
My subbed box - 40962 Newly acquired box - 40961 Net ID according to the list (and the working one) - 40964 Here's my original post, where I first came across it (so was expecting it) Newb being overly cautious... Now I need to make a working funcard to set the net ID, attempt 1 hasn't worked - what are the best/most current files to use? |

I'm in TW as well we have 3 net IDs for my area and two of them work for most of it 40966 & 40965 but the odd one is 41016. Which just gives you the black screen.

There are often a few NetId's in each region. TW, for instance, often tend to run their pvr boxes on a different NetId to the other boxes in the same region.
If you look through the actual entries in the NIT tables, you'll also find that many of the NIT's are simply duplications so will often work in multiple areas anyway. Occasionally, you'll get one that appears to work but only one or two transducers out of 30+ are different (meaning you possibly wont get upto 10 channels per transducer). Its probably best to set the box to the correct Netid for the area (and boxtype) but if its set to a different one and still works ok then its not a problem. |
