Rather than using crappy speedtesters that sometimes give u incorrect results, i found a way to determine ur actual broadband speed

Somehow i got hold of this magnificent link...........

When downloading a game from there my broadband connection is at its peak, enabling me to determine what speed my modem is actually at

Doesn't even max out mine as much as NG. I get 2.0 to 2.1mbps on BY Games and on NG i get 2.37Mbps not much but is a difference.

its a lot better than speed tests m8 when i was on 10 and 20 meg it worked well since i have gone to 50 i get around 32 meg on the games site but i always max out on newsgroups

but thanks for the post
for people not using newsgroups i have found it more reliable than speed tests in the past

i think hammys right, speedtest.net gives me 10mbps, whereas from downloading im clearly getting at least 15mbps!

sorry to hijack the post.. but when you guys reference to newsgroups.. is that paying per month for an account with usenex or something like that? i use torrents, but have read a lot about this newsgroups stuff and i'm interested.

You can pay monthly or you can pay for an annual subscription if you wish. It may work out cheaper to pay for a year's subscription as opposed to paying for it each month. Yes, Usenext is based around newsgroups but their are also sites such as nzbsrus, nzb-magic, nzbmatrix and many more.

i am on v/m they do have there own newsgroups but i do subscribe to astrawed alot of the times you will have missing files from v/m then i use my paid bit to pick up the missing parts

my provider is VM also pal..I used to have a ********** account and download through a few sites this was very good for maxing connection and was reasonably priced. the availability of stuff through newgroups is it good? what kind of stuff can you download?I understand if you can't state anything illegal.
