Default Virgin Modem Sending/Receiving But Cant Get Online

Hi guys, hoping i can get some advice from you. My brother in law recently got a fl@shed Virgin Media modem, problem is when he plugs it in, it says it is sending/receiving packets so he seems to be getting the signal, but he cant get online. Not really sure if theres something else we need to be doing. The modem is one of the newer models from Virgin Media, i think it may be a 250 model. Sorry i cant be more specific at the moment as im posting this from my place where as his equipment is obviously at his home. Id really appreciate any help and advice, and can get more information on the model of the modem if needed. Please help.

Flashed modems are not plug and play , you need to enter a valid mac address from a different UBR.

what software is on it??

go to 192.168.100.1 and check

"Infinite" then you will need 250 config to change the mac dont force or put in a config file! <- check the downloads section for a guide on how to setup Infinite

"Haxorware" just change the settings in the wb gui that comes up
same again just change the hfc mac with a working one and dont force or put in a tftp ip all should be well and you should get online. if its on hax check this post ---> Setting up Haxorware

to get mac's use dchp sniffer to get macs from a ubr near your mates house. check this post for more help -- DHCP Sniffer Quick Guide

if you are still stuck do a bit of searching on the forum mate and you will find your answer hope this helps
