Default SB5101e using my MAC from VM

I am very new to having a modem that uses 'special' features. I have the SB5101e with haxroware 1.1 r32 i think it is.. i pay for legit 10mb line from Vermin Media, because i don't understand how to spoof, clone or whatever with all this MAC stuff, i'm using my MAC (that i got from my VM modem settings) put it into the settings of my SB5101e and then forced the 20mb config that i found on a forum post here and it's working ok.. is that a risky thing to do then? lol.. as i have seen on another post this could result in me being caught..

Thanks

It's no the best way to go about doing things m8 as obviously that mac address is assigned to your subbed modem which VM are going to know but on the other hand you could just plead ignorance as how do they know its you cloning it it could be any one on the network but if you can setup haxorware using your mac you are 9/10ths of the way there all you need to do is get a mac from a different UBR best way to do this is either at a m8s house on a different ubr or by trading although this forum doesn't allow it there are some that do so get yourself a mac and replace the mac in your cloned modem with your newly aquired mac then you can run both modems side by side if you wish. Im also supprised that forcing a config is still working for you what config are you forcing?

It would be quite hard to catch you as the mac etc would look legit, of course theres always a chance, you would have a bigger chance of being caught if you was using a 50mb config and constantly getting 36MB

If you get caught you can always just hook your old modem up and say your internets not working and deny any knowledge if questioned

thanks for the posts guys.. i will just have to read more forums, i found on here that one called datadrome do MAC swaps. I signed up, just don't really understand it, i'm kinda of getting closer to though lol..

the config file i'm forcing is A557bc4e68b1b28bf.cm this is making me run at 20mb using my MAC which is 10mb (it's what i pay VM for). obviously i don't want to get caught and have my arse raped lol. I'll look into this MAC swapping more, although i have found it can be a pain finding a MAC that would allow it to work at 20mb.

also you mention running the 2 modems side by side? sorry to be a numpty, but does that mean running 2 simultaneous broadband connections? my subbed VM modem running at 10mb and my cloned modem with 20mb MAC and 20mb config running at 20mb?

Thanks

Correct you can indeed run both modems at the same time you just need an f splitter available from maplin etc and you split the coax going into the back of your modem so you then have 2 feeds or as many as you want but dont split it to many times as the signal will decrease if you decide to hook up a silly amount of devices!
