Default Eurovox EX5000 PVR crashes and doesnt come back on

A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend called to say her eurovox had gone off, and would not come back on

i told her to unplug it, leave it for a minute or two and then plug back in...it didnt work...no power light...BUT...her TV recognises that its been switched on because it automatically switches to the correct AV channel

Anyway, I told her i would have to go over and take a look at it...10 minutes later she called me and said it was back on

Thought nothing more of it, had a few of these boxes, from d-box to eurovox and i know you can have the odd problem or 2

Now I am here and it has just frozen up on me, the screen went pink and stayed like it...so i unplugged it and left it a minute or 2...plugged it back in...as normal the tv recognised and switched to the correct channel...but no power light on the box and just a black screen

As I write this its come back on, just came on on its own...im puzzled

Anyone experienced this or have any idea whats wrong?

its a EX5000PVR...no hard drive...not sure what software is on it as i havent had to mess with that yet as i bought it already done and its yet to go off

sounds like there is something on the way out
but it will cost you nothing to try a factory default reset and scan, if no better then try a reflash and if that doesn't cure it then its probably a component on the way out

no you will not lose the firmware, a factory default reset removes all channels live ones and dead ones thus removing any clutter and puts the setting back to the factory defaults.

Hi,

I have nearly the same problem as the 1st poster, my eurovox 500 resets now and again, however I notice that this happens on mainly while watching the following channels:

setanta ireland, Nick & Disney.

All/most of my other channels are ok and also noticed that the above problem channels have always only one listing in the Channel list after a scan, while my others cahnnels will mostly have 2 listing (this varies from scan to scan). I am with U*C in the midlands (Ireland).

Any pointers would be super.
