Dreamboxes probably have the most support, although some of the later linux receivers are catching up fast.

Which is the best one for you depends on many things including - what do you want to watch? SD or HD? do you need rf aerial type distribuotion around the house? Are you going to be subscribing to any foreign pay tv providers?

etc etc

1) I have a TM500 and am very pleased with it. I posted a review in the technomate section a couple of weeks back. As AS says, the dreamboxes have the best support. The AzBox are looking good as well, though they are still in beta stage so a little buggy. Bang 4 Buck though they are the dogs dangelies. If you can give us abit more info we can probably help more.

2) google is your friend

Thx for reply guys, it's like this, I have a TM 6900 HD super pvr, and get a good selection of fta stuff plus some n*gr*vision stuff courtesy of a well known sat site. I did consider buying a cas3 programmer and card, to open up some stuff (maybe), depending on what's available. But then I'm hearing that the "way to go" is a linux box, as nobody knows what's happening with the former just yet.
So, I'm keen to start learning the ropes with regard to "expanding the viewing pleasure for free", as it were......but not sure which way to go....does that make sense?
I guess I'm trying to start up on my new hobby, when it's a uncertain time, as it were. Any help greatfully appreciated.
I can view 45E-45W. As much free stuff I can get, would be good, films of all kinds, whatever is there for the taking,(after applying the techo stuff) if you get my drift. I'm quite computer literate Imjust need some advice on the road to go, without wasting money, as her that must be obeyed will be on my case.

thx guys

Be warned theres very little open on patches and keys these days even on dreamboxes. You will need to investigate card sharing.

We allow general questions about c/s but any detailed answers about how to do it are strictly forbidden.
