Default Im new to this! Just need a few pointers!

I will finally be moving to a house where i can get virgin cable and will be paying for a v+ box and broadband from them.
The V+ box will be in the sitting room, but i would like to incorporate cable into a spare room which im going to use as a media/games room.
I want to split my cable line and run it into a pc in the media/games room.
Now for my questions!!! Any help is much appreciated!!
1:If i purchase a fire dtv and an icecrypt cam what card would you recommend i get?
2:what other pieces of software do i need to get it up and running?(besides the playback software like mediaportal or mce)
3:what other steps do i need to take to get it running?

I know this is only my second post but i hope to understand the whole process soon and share the knowledge.
Im not here to get what i want and leave!

Or just point me in the right direction!
