I found that with version 1 it also seemed to load up a load of guide data (off satellite) that I didn't have linked to a card, and this dramatically slowed down the guide.
I had problems with v1 so stuck with my analogue tuner workaround.

Tried v1.1 and it appears to be working well.... I still have the analogue tuner in at the moment, but i'll try without when i get time.. This program will save a lot of hassle if all works properly..

Coincidentally, mine just borked (I think the kids pulled the power supply and the HD didn't like it), I tried setting up without an analogue card and using the guide tool to get the guide, but it kept moaning about dvblink not being instlled and wouldn't let me subscribe a channel to a lineup.

I've uninstalled for now.

Apart from not being able to pull the analogue card on this machine, the anague card "hack" works fne for me so I'll stick with it.

No issues with my setup after 2 days now (touch wood). Guide downloading fine and no duplicate channels. I'm on Vista w/TV Pack rather than Windows 7, so not sure if the tool works better on 1 than the other (although is designed to run on both)

I was getting similar error messages if I tried to use the guide tool straight after tuner setup without rebooting first. And it would take ages to assign a channel to the guide. However after rebooting the tool ran very smoothly.

The tool is quite good in that it gives you 2 automatic subscription options - either by call sign (where you will end up with a number of non matches, same as when doing the analogue hack); or by channel number, which was a lot easier. Only downside is you manually have to edit all the channel numbers to match the virgin guide, but fairly easy to do this using the guide tool.

And final thing to do is to use the 'merge channels' button to ensure that you dont end up with a separate channel listing in the guide for each tuner you have.

Here's the step by step guide to the analogue card "hack" mate:
Guide to VMC+TV Pack Setup 2xDVB-C

You can do a similar thing using a "spare" DVB-C card (must be a different make to your other cards, so you can use different DVB-C drivers rather than fake DVB-T ones) but I'm not as nice as Cafe and never bothered making a guide for that.

Hmmm, interesting, I certainly didn't reboot after setting up my cards and scanning (in fact I had a tough job waiting for it to finish scanning, I have NO patience).

I haven't sorted the channels yet, so I might have another go although I have setup an analogue card in 7MC now. Maw - have you got an analogue card in?

I still have my analogue Pinnacle card physically sitting in the PCI slot (just in case this all goes horribly wrong in a few days and i have to revert to the old setup!) - however when I re-ran my tuner setup i specifically excluded it - so Media Center is only seeing my 2 Floppys as tuners (and therefore didnt give me option to select Virgin cable guide during setup, it just assumes initially that all guide data will be downloaded ota).

Definately would recommend giving it 1 more try Cafe - re-running tuner setup without your analogue card, then rebooting, then running guide tool. Good luck!

Tried this without the analogue card today.. It worked with the card in but now I get the error:

"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

Should have just left it alone... Will i never learn..

I think that's because you have to have MCE running at the time?

With a bit of fiddling it looks like there is a bit of a bug somewhere, It won't connect to "localhost" on my system.. (even with MCE running)

I had an extender on in another room and tried the program, For some reason it worked but came up with an empty channel list.

I think it'd work with a fresh install but really can't be bothered to go through all that again.. I'm back with my Analogue tuner again.
