Hello everyone
I need an HD PVR receiver to transfer records to PC, but am left with only few choices, as the majority of local shops in here sell either HD only or PVR only not together. no plans to buy from online sites However, I was able to find a few HD PVR receivers which are : Topfield 7710 HD PVR: timeshift recording 1 hour( disappointed I love timeshift).. I wonder if I can increase it to 2 hours with applicationS perhaps? TAP? Humax Icord HD, needs 15-30 days to arrive the retailer says.. is the picture quality as good as the TF 7710? Dreambox 800: no CI slot and the retailer says it won't work with showtime card, doesn't even have HDMI connector! and hmm, Fortec Star HD Passion plus: which needs external hard disk, heard it has some recording with sleep mode issues Which one do you recommend? Looking at these models it seems they are sort of old, a year and half if not more. Should I buy one of these or wait for a new HD PVR receivers to be released? Any help appreciated, Thanks |

Hello
The Dreambox 800 will work with a showtime card if you use the right image and cam, and it comes with a DVI to HDMI cable (I use it and know) The iCord is available in the UK if you know where to look or ask? There is a big difference between the Fortec and the others. There are also other receivers, such as the Cuberevo, AzBox etc Maybe you need to speak with someone?

Hello southernsatellite. thanks for replying As for the DM 800 it has no Common Interface slots to be able to use a CAM. I think you meant the 8000? not 800? I called almost 65 satellite local stores here and was only able to find the HD-PVR receivers I listed above. I Couldn't find any of those you mentioned, perhaps online or through other routes but it won't provide any local support. Humax and Topfield do have an official store here where I live. So I guess am cutting down my list to either Humax iCord HD or Topfield 7710 Which one would you buy? and why? Any comments would be helpful, thanks |

The Topfield 7710 HD PVR,doesn't allow TAPS,and neither does it allow any timeshift recording of either SD or HD channels.
It does have a timeshift buffer of 1 hour. |
