Hello people , i have a dreambox 500c lying around and i was wondering can anything be done with these still ?

It is a Linux box, same as a DBox. Your box will do everything that a DBox can do

i am new to this site i have just bought a dreambox500c and need to flash it so works on ntl.
i have never done it before so need as much info as possible.

First of all do you live in the UK/Ireland. If you live in Ireland, you can get some limited use out of it, but not the full usage that you can get in the UK

I had lincsat to upload a modded image of my DW to the private FTA. Its there, but you need some more meaningfull posts to access the private FTA. You can also search the net and find some images that you like. Popular ones include PLI, Digital Kaos, Digtal worldz and then you can learn to transfer keys over Transfering Magic Files

mainly the images first and then will get the software to do it.

The image is a software

You will need to flash this software using dreamup or telnet. Once you post some more you will get access to the private FTA(not yet) Have you ever dealt with Dbox's?
