Default Dbox2, Samsung 2110C, cable splitter and Talkback

Hi all

I am new to all this so thanks for all the great info posted here. I have set up my new DBox2 and it works fine, I can get everything I need on it. I also have a Samsung box, I intend to get a cable splitter to feed into the two boxes. Then I will output the Samsung on AV1 for VOD etc., and the Dbox on AV2 for everything else, and so I can record to my computer.

I am interested in knowing how Talkback works, I have read a lot of interesting stuff on here already. But I can't work out exactly what Talkback will do in the set up I have described. Could anyone help me, specifically will Talkback tell VM what I am watching? Will they be able to see that I have got an extra box plumbed in?

Thanks folks.

Talkback will tell VM exactly what you are doing/ watching on your subbed box, you must have read about subbed boxes to be left alone, if you are using a splitter you should be alright as long as you leave you subbed box connected as it should and not messed around with, the other box you have modified will work in silence so it will not be picked up as long as the talk back is done properly on that box.
so which 1 is the sub box and which is the modified box??

My main box is the Samsung Virgin has supplied - that will have Talkback and I understand that will tell Virgin everything I do with that box. The Dbox2 will also be connected via a splitter. I understand that DBox2 does not do talk back, so that in theory should be ok. But can the Talkback on the Samsung box somehow monitor what is going on on the line - or will it only tell Virgin about what the Samsung box is doing?

I don't think the talkback on sammy will monitor the line, will only monitor what goes on in that box, many peeps here using sub box and up to 4 boxes through spliters but as long as the sub box isn't touched you should be fine m8.

If you have a modified cable company box then get one of these 50db Return Path Noise Blocker, talkback on cable box on eBay (end time 07-Aug-09 15:31:56 BST)

It will cut talkback on your receiver once connected. If you have an original subbed box, then theres no need to cut talkback at all

If you use the noise blocker on your subbed box is the same as cutting talk back, so VM would want to know why the box isn’t talking to them anymore, and if you think you can put it on and then take it off when ever you would like talkback will still snd the info of all that’s been going on as soo as you take the blocker off, so the only way to get around this is by not touching the subbed box in any way no even a noise blocker m8, get your self another box that’s not contracted to you and have a play with it.
