Default Subbed cards? n00b needing help as usual.

I have heard a lot of speculation on whether doing these are safe.

By this I mean, using an original card from a subbed box, unlooping (or backdoor cracking it) to get the IRD/BK codes, and creating either a new MOSC card (cloned card, all channels unlocked) or a fun card (all channels unlocked.

Clearly doing it this way would give a result of 2 cards;
1 - Unlooped original card provided by VM.
2 - Cracked fun/MOSC card with all channels

That way, if *someone special* came knocking, I could just shutdown the box and swap the cards over: leaving just the original one plugged in and the crappy channels?

Is this how it works??

I would like the original card there just in case, and if it is neccesary to unloop it perminantly, I guess this will have to be done, but is it possible?

Is it just asking for a knock on the door?
Is it done the same as any other box's card (unloop, access the BK/IRDs, create EEPROM, flash with a proggy)

While I'm here, I will ask these instead of opening another thread;
Infinity USB Ultimate. A good choice for unlooped card reader/fun card proggy?
Dual Unlooper from MIKEDATA@WizardMods, again, good choice for unlooping a number of close relative's cards?? (strictly close only!)
Cards themselves (to be channel hacked)?
- Fun Card 2/Galaxy Purple. [eBay ID: 220450103506]
- Fun Card 4 [eBay ID: 270232330731]
- Silver Card [eBay ID: 220444840244]
With the cards, the cheaper the better, I have 4 close relatives that want one (one of them has asked for 2 cards: upstairs and down, so 5 cards + 1 for me), so I don't want to pay too much. Will Fun Card 2 be ok in an untouched/subbed box?

All of this is for education purposes only, if it is as unsafe as I have been told elsewhere, I will forget the idea: I know it is possible as a friend of mine did one for me at my old house [it was used for about 18 months until I left there about 3 months ago] and he JUST asked for the smart card, and returned me 2 cards. (the one I gave him, and another hacked white/blue TW MOSC card)

Many thanks and I look forward to your reply,

Ian

Simple answer, no. The golden rule is........ DON'T MESS WITH SUBBED EQUIPMENT!. Even if you use another card, Vermin will still notice that the original card is unlocked and get suspicious then probably come knocking at your door. Plus you would need to cut the talkback on the box which is definateley not recommended on a subbed box.

That clears it up a little.

I remember after 2 months of me having the TV done, the box went faulty, and the vir*** man looked at it and said "something has happened to your card", then swapped the card and box for others out his van.

I havent heard from them since,

Even though it's not 100% safe, I know my *cable man* does them for lots of people, like he did for me. And I know he has not been caught in his many years of cable bypassing and has done thousands of cards not only for friends and family but for people all over the area.

I just wondered how he did it and whether it's worth paying him £50 per card or doing it myself if all he is going to do is unloop, write down 2 numbers and copy them to another unlocked card.

So, even if not for other people, COULD I try it myself, like my cable man?
I like to learn about this kind of thing and would be greatful for as much help as I can,

Many thanks,

Ian

Yes, you can do this yourself if you have the right equipment. The basics required are an unlooper and a Phoenix programmer. Do some searching and I am sure you will find what you need to modify cable boxes .

you could learn m8 we all had to learn, but get your self another box from carboot sale, that way its safer, if other peeps getting them selves in trouble why would you want to do the same? blakey_8 gave you good advice, i thought that's what you are here for m8.

I appreciate all of this greatly, but have asked many forums and have just been told "no, virgin will cut you off in minutes". I had my card for around 18 months and it worked so..

As I said, I really do appreciate your time and effort with this and I have looked into the boxes (I know a lot of people that have them fitted but if virmin came knocking, they wouldn't stand a chance!)

From what I understand it's exactly the same as doing a fun card for a sammy etc. Which seems pretty straight forward enough to do after researching for the past 3 weeks, I think i'll just give it a go with another (unsubbed) box to test my skills, then if it all goes ok: move onto the normals. That box will always be there then if someone else outside my close family wants one done and needs it safe.

Many thanks for your help =) seriously, you guys are amazing.

I will probably see you around the forums later, but right now I need sleep.

Goodnight, and goodbye {for now}

Ian.

Unsubbed doesn't mean Starview, Eurovox etc it just means a box that has never ever been registered in your name. A subbed box however is one that you "rent" Vermin and pay for monthly, these boxes are the ones we are on about that should NEVER be tampered with. As abbs rightly said, get yourself another box off eBay and play around with that one .

Your "cable man" want's his hands chopping off for f**king about with equipment other people are renting off VM and f**ing it up for everyone else. Its probably his only form of income and he has started his own cottage industry charging people money to land them in trouble I bet he asks for a government grant next to buy more equipment!

All I know about him is that he does the modems, satellite, TV cards and has a LOAD of old black pace boxes around his house.

And he is a CORGI registered electrician getting quite a bit of cash from that.

We only see him when we have troubles (MAC address faulty etc.) so don't know any more than that.

@The helpful guy
If I was going to play around on one, I have a spare pace box from when my grandad died, they just abandonned it so now it's time for a little recycling.

Ian.
