Default range in mac

Whats the range in the network to use a mac address? like say im in coventry which area would i need to get macs from?

It varies from area to area how far you can go. In my area I can use macs from like 30 miles away in a different city!

Coventry prob has several UBR's

Go to *ttp://tools.virginmedia.com/

You'll see 'client host name'
The second section in this host name is your UBR / CMTS

Probably something like ****-cove2-***

You need to get the MACS from an area which has a different value for this

The closer the better, while still having a different value

ok i got this

.cable.ubr01.dudl.blueyonder.co.uk

would i be able to use mac address from wolverhampton? i use my friends at the moment which connects fine but when i sniff cant get them to work, i know when i used the dhp force sniffer i did see that some had wolv in them would they work?

how would i know if they are any good when they show on screen

ideally you'd get some from ubr02/3/4.dudl

as for wolverhampton you'd have to try them.

None of the MACS you get sniffing from your own house will work though
