Exclamation Elevation angle

Hi guys,

I know i'm going over old ground here but i think i need a refresher course!! I'm setting up a non-motorised dish at my parent's house. Can someone please remind me how to work out the vertical angle of a standard offset dish. I have been on dish pointer and the elevation angle i require is 27.2' but i know there is a formula for how to work out the vertical angle of the dish...but i just can't remember it!!!

I have got one of those wixley angle meters that Robbo recommended so i want to get it into action!!!

Thanks,

Trev

Default Re: Elevation angle

Hi,

There's no such thing as a standard offset dish unfortunately, they don't all have the same offset. For a fixed dish you don't really need to worry anyway, just set the dish so that dish is about vertical and adjust from there until you get a signal on your chosen satellite.

I mainly use my Wixey angle guage to assess whether there are obstructions, to get the pole vertical for a motorised dish, or to check the elevation angle for the motor is correct. I have never found a use for it with simple fixed dish installations.
