here is just a useful website i came across one day. its basically a site that gives you all the alternative numbers for those nasty 0870 and 0845 numbers.

as you are aware 0845 and 0870 cost something like 10p per minute which can mount to quite a large sum if you on the phone long.

so yea next time you need to call a 0845 or 0870 number for example calling the dvla then check out this website it lists loads of 0800 numbers and the cheaper rate numbers like 0208, 0120, 03 etc.
