Question Pace 4001 NC can't access engineering menu / stuck in tune / nit

Hi

I've been trying to fix a friend's Pace 4001 stb using Dalmation's very informative tut. I've fixed a few of these before and am aware that stuck in tune is a common issue; however, this bugger has got me puzzled as after pulling the red jumper I can't even access the engineering menu to set the default frequency. On pwering up with the feed in it'll go through 'PACE' for a longer than normal duration, and then cycle 'tune' and 'nit' indefinately with the 'stanby', 'remote' and 'messages' leds flashing consequetivley.

I've replaced the CIM with a known good one to no avail, removed the 33V caps and checked the voltages which all appeared normal with the exception of the TUN100 33V line which strangely seemed to be cycling regularly in a descent from ~30V to 2V - is this normal???

I also changed the 7 electrolytic caps near the tuners for good measure but no luck here either. I tried communicating with it via Libby, it stuck on 'PACE' and the only response I got was (a)AT(a). I could spend another day arsing with this, but me thinks it could be due for the salvage yard, as I can't even access the engineering menu. However, if anyone has any other ideas about this they would be greatly appreciated. Cheerz

Tried this but alas, no luck. The only difference it made was that the display went from 'PACE' to 'tune' and remained on 'tune'. Grrr.
