Hey guys,
My friend has just gone on 50MB (paying for it £37.50 i think he said) he lives in the same town as me. I'm getting 20MB at the mo. With sniffing MACs etc, i noticed some people say you can't use MACs in the same UBR (whats UBR mean?) if i used the same config that he is, would that allow me to also run at 50MB? Excuse me if it's thick questions, i really don't understand much, so i'd rather ask ![]() thanks guys |

Hi
Forgot what ubr stands for but basicly if your friend is from the same segment as you (same area) I think you need to be a few miles before you can use macs (different ubr). You can check what ubr you are on and what your friend is on and you will know then. Google for my ubr or similar should be able to find out your ubr from search results. Regards |

3-4 miles should be fine if you go to this site Find your UBR easy, you bums it will tell you your UBR the stafford bit is irelevant you need to be from the same area just not the same ubr check the site and make sure you are on different ubr's

I doubt you will be able to get the 50mb connection as it is on the DOCSIS 3 network which uses encryption between the CM and CMTS there was a time when you could force the 50mb config on the docsis 1 network and get speeds of around 42mb as thats the maximum that the ambits and surfboards etc can physically use. This sticks out like a sore thumb on the doscis 1 network and prompted VM to take action against us hence alot of problems recently which now seem to have calmed down thankfully. So the short of it is if you require 50mb then you have to pay for it
