Default cable wire extension

I have one main cable wire coming into my front room for the tv. I now need another cable so I can watch tv upstairs aswell.

As there is only one incoming cable, I guess some sort of splitter is needed? And how on earth would I connect another cable wire on the existing cable wire?

You have answered your own question mate , The use of a splitter is required , you screw the cable feed into the splitter , then from that 1 wire would branch of to the TV and you would have to run the other cable to the required room.

Green flashing light is a good sign TB is off , To check for sure , goto settings , technical stuff and check the DHCP status. If it says return path off TB has been disabled

so if somebody has one cable running into their house how do they have multiple stb's? for example, the wire running from outside to inside can be split into 2 using a spliiter. but for more then 2?

also by using cable wire with the splitter how do i get the tip that screws into a stb? you gota buy them right
