Hi all,
I would like to mod the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300DVB Rev: 1.7 HD Box. I will use the paired ROM11 card. Is it necessary to cut the talkbalk R202 CAP, is it safe or it will make the box freezing? Regarding the AT24c 512 chip removal and programming what should I do (what do we achieve by doing this step)? What about the Duff chip pad fix? Thanks in advance, Leo |

Normally it is a good idea to cut TB but on those boxes it is better to use noise blocker, some peeps have problems with those boxes after cutting the TB, if the box is from the same area then you wouldn't neet to remove the 512 chip unless it was used in a different area then the one you are setting it for, the reason to remove that chip is to set Net ID and Pin, if the box is from another area and you are in Pure all you is replace it with another it st the Net ID for it self but you will have to set the frequency.
if you are not sure of how to lift the chip you might end up lifting the pads then you will need to find a tut for "Duff chip pad fix" in the download. before you write another Image to the smart card take a note of the BK coz if you mess it up you won't get it of the box m8. Hit the Thanks buttong if I helpped you m8!

Thanks for your reply m8, I have installed the V+/TVDrive Application V1.1 to use as a guide and I 've got some more questions: 1. So it is better to use a noise blocker compared to cut the TB R202. Can you explain better what is the noise blocker and how I will use it? 2. The box was in use in the same ex C&W area that I am going to use it again and it is not blocked since it wasn't used after the subscription period. 3. Regarding the Duff chip pad fix I cannot understand a lot (I have attached the instructions). What is the purpose of doing that? Last edited by Leoheart; 08-08-09 at 06:34 PM. |

Noise blockers work fine, the duff pad fix is only for when you damage the pads removing chip, as abbs said you may not need to do that.
