Default W7 + Joker 0.80 = No Sound on HD channels

I've been playing around with Windows 7 RC for the past few days and everything's been going swimmingly - except I haven't been able to get any sound on any of the HD channels.

Tonight, on a wild hunch I tried swapping one of my Blue Zeta's flashed with Joker 0.80 for an Icecrypt flashed with 0.79, and straight away my HD channels had sound. Swapped back to the Zeta, no sound, swapped for Icecrypt - sound!

Now I originally changed from 0.79 to 0.80 because 0.79 gave me problems on 15 channels. Specifically, tuning to that channel would give me a "Service is scrambled" screen and then it wouldn't decrypt any channels until I unplugged the CAM or rebooted the PC.

So, on my new W7 install with a Joker 0.79 installed, I tried one of those channels and sure enough it broke Media Centre just as before! Needed to reboot the PC to get it back.

Now I'm stuck with a choice. Do I stick with 0.80 and lose the use of my HD channels, or do I go back to 0.79 and lose 15 other channels (some of which are quite nice - Dave, Bravo, Bravo +1, Film4, Film4 +1, Sky Sports 1 & 2, etc). Alternatively, does anyone know of a different CAM flash or different CAM that works with cable?

Still, at least I can stop ****ing about trying different codec packs now!

How odd, I don't appear to be able to edit my last post. Apologies for the double post then.

I've just found a whole pack of different Joker firmwares, from 0.54 up to 0.79, and some specific Blue Zeta ones too. The only problem is they're all in .hex format and the CAS3 can only flash .bin files. I've tried the program "SwapBinHex" which threw an error and, sure enough, the resulting flash didn't decrypt any channels. Does anyone know how to convert a .hex CAM dump into a CAS-compatible .bin file?

Stu,

I've a similar set-up to you..

Have FireDTV's with Icecrypt running the Joker 79, All in windows 7 x64.

I have to say i've never had any issues with the card tuning into any of the channels. I get Sky Sports, Bravo, Film4 etc.. and all the current HD offerings with sound...

Just for your into too,,, Not using any codec packs, Windows 7 plays most things natively...

Mort..

Yeah, I seem to be in a fairly unique area that doesn't play well with 0.79 for some reason! It works for nearly everyone else in the UK, just not here.

You're right that it was nothing to do with codecs - popping my 0.79 CAM in gave me the sound immediately, just also brought other problems to roost too.

Don't suppose anyone has any other Joker firmware's already in CAS3 format, do they? Just wondering if my area needs 0.78 or something like that. Weird!

joker 0.79 on a blue icecrypt caused all my channels to freeze after about 15 seconds. updating it to joker 0.80 let me access all sd and hd (but no sound). fx hd has sound if i press 'i' then select the language for visibility impaired.

strange problem.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link on the forum (even a deactivated one).

Thanks mate.

last question will be using a cas 3 to upgrade and dont want to kill the cam.

What is the best way of doing it once i got a connection. Do i just upgrade it on top of 0.79 or do i need to format the cam etc etc.

Thanks

Have you checked your Floppy firmware?

I'm on .79 and have no problems (well, very occasionally the service is scrambled message).
