Default Unable to connect to Modem using Putty

I am attempting to upgrade my SA2100(EPC2100R2) from infinite to haxorware via an ethernet cable and have been receiving help from
ant1615 to do this.

I have however, developed a problem neither of us can solve and
have been advised to post another thread requesting help.

I have setup my properties and solarwind as per the instructions in the original thread
Change from Infinite to Haxorware Firmware

but when I try to connect with putty to the modem the programme just closes. I have tried to do this on two different computers both running XP
but with the same result.

Can someone please shed some light on this for me.
