Default newbie here

i have recently bought a tv with built in freesat hd, my son is using the sky dish for his room to watch sky freeview channels, its only got 1 lnb on the dish , will i need to put a twin lnb on it or will i get away with putting a splitter on it so i can get freesat as well? thanks for any help

If he's got a Sky dish then get a Sky Quad and run an extra cable. You cannot split the signal

A splitter won't work, as the reciever needs to send a voltage back to the lnb which it varies so the lnb selectes the correct polarisation.

For a sky minidish the lnb swap is very easy. Pull the plastic pin from the arm, and slide the old lnb out. Fitting is reversed. A quad would be your best bet as they are cheap enough and allow easy expansion later. Talk to southern satellite one of the forum sponsors and I'm sure he will sort you out.

You will just need to run a new cable to your dish and terminate with f-connectors.
