Default R232 cable

Does anyone know if I could use a USB download cable for a picaxe microcontroller to connect to a modem?

i had to google what you put in and no great help, anyway of a photo? as long as you got a usb to serial and the drivers should work?

hi, thanks for the reply. i was getting confused with the r232 and a different cable, its not going to work
