Default definate 20meg mac but not going operational, advice needed

k, have been reading everything in this section thats come up for past month or so, but havent manage to sort this proble out.

All macs mentioned below are 00:14's

Am in exCW, on hax rev32, can consistently get 2Meg and 10Meg macs to work fine on DS 58675, modem goes operational quite quickly.

Problem is, as soon as I put a 20meg mac in, 'hax overview' shows the status goes through to IP Complete (gets a 20meg config from server) but then goes back to 'Scanning' and then sits at Ranging. DS is now locked at 29875 and doesnt change, constantly 'Ranging'

Its so frustrating, just cant get 20meg operational and the macs are definately good.

any advice greatly appreciated

tried each bpi setting manually but no joy, unless u think the commands need to entered manually via terminal, was assuming hax32 would be ok via drop down bpi menu selection.

Incidently the cm file that the modem temporarily downloads on ip completion (5865) isnt actually valid, it tried downloading it and analysin it.

im using a 2mb mac using this config to make it 20mb though

cm-20480-768

Go to config file on haxoware, the put file name as
cm-20480-768

then save and reboot.

hope it works for you mate.

i'm guessing its not getting a valid .cm itbecause the macs are meant to be on DS 298MHz not 586, otherwise o know they are def good macs.

all identifiers are spot on, just never managed to get a mac workin on the dynamic DS 298, the .cm's i get on DS 586 begin with H but are not dynamic. confusing ((

I am fine with 2Meg to be honest but am just interested to know what i'm doin wrong really

using another 20meg mac, now get this:

Task Status
Acquire Downstream Channel Done
Obtain Upstream Parameters Done
Upstream Ranging Done
Establish IP Connectivity Done
Retrieve Time of Day In Progress
Negotiate security Waiting
Receive configuration Waiting
Register connection Waiting
Cable modem status IP Complete

...and gets dynamic config but then goes back to scanning and cycle repeats

Log shows:

Critical R002.0 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out (US 3)
Notice M572.0 Neg Or Bad Reg Rsp - Reinitialize MAC...
Critical D003.0 DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.

same results regardless of bpi settings

any help appreciated cheers

I have noticed my macs take longer to connect now and after finding the ip take another few minutes to connect.

Wait five minutes before you give up
