Default satellite or cable?

hello people,

I am really not sure where should this thread go. So if this is in wrong section i am really sorry!

I am intrested in buying a linux based box.

Went to southernsatellite.co.uk to check some out and these looks good: AZBox HD Premium Linux LAN PVR
CUBEREVO HD TWIN TUNER PVR

I am in cable area and got viring media line and want to use one of this, will any of these boxes work without a satellite? In CUBEREVO HD TWIN TUNER PVR there is a option of having a cable tunner!

If it does work will this allow me to get all chanels, if yes than what do i need? like an image on dbox 2 , where can i find this?

Thanks!

It's cable. Whatever you get, make sure it has a cable tuners. The listings will state whether it is satellite or cable, or whether DVB-C/cable tuners are available.

You mean you have a Dbox? Then you can get all channels that VM give you(as long as you live in the UK)

Any linux box requires a large learning curve to get it up and running. You will have alot of reading to do. Personally I would say it isn't worth the hastle for cable. Satellite on the other hand would be worth while if you get a deacent dish.

If you are hoping for a detailed guide you are out of luck. There are so many combinations of equipment that you need to learn and understand what you are doing with a linux box. Following a list of commands will not get you very far.
